BONDED FILLINGS |
Our practice is "amalgam free" or "mercury free" due to Mercury Toxicity Concerns. Currently there are hundreds of types of composite resins and porcelain/ceramic materials used for fillings, inlays, onlays, crowns and veneers. Some of these materials will be more compatible with your body than others.
In our opinion, ALL are more compatible than mercury amalgam fillings. |

Composite Resin Fillings - aka WHITE FILLINGS.
Composite resin dental fillings were created in the 1960's as an alternative to traditional mercury amalgam fillings, and coloured to match a specific natural tooth.
All composite resins are chemically bonded into place. Composite resins are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the colour of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
Testing for biocompatibility
There are different ways of testing a dental material for biocompatibility. For people who are highly reactive to chemical substances, we can arrange for biocompatibility testing in order to determine which materials are best suited for their body.
These materials are strong, durable, and make for a very natural looking smile. Less tooth removal is required for composite resin fillings as compared to traditional mercury amalgam fillings, and a bonded filling can actually strengthen the tooth.

Porcelain/Ceramic is the strongest and most natural looking dental restoration material available in today.
We use bonded porcelain/ceramic materials to restore teeth. Porcelain/Ceramic materials have proven to be stronger and more resistant to wear than other types of filling materials. When a porcelain/ceramic is bonded into place, a tight seal against bacteria is formed. Using the CEREC CAD/CAM System ALL Onlays, Inlays, and Crowns at our practice are fabricated WITHOUT METAL using 100% porcelain/ceramic in ONE appointment (as opposed to the usual two).
